What’s Open Screen?

We’re a group of New Orleans-based cinema makers & lovers who host regular screenings of original material. Open Screen, New Orleans is our regular open mic for filmmakers that invites all types of filmmakers to show short work, 10-minutes or less.

Additionally, we offer screen projection equipment and service through our rental program called Open Screen: Editions.

How do monthly “Open Screen, New Orleans” events work?

Finished films, works-in-progress, student films, home movies,.. All cinema is welcome to our open screen!

Our monthly Open Screen, New Orleans events are an opportunity for filmmakers to screen and get feedback on any short material, 10-minutes or less. Before each screening, the work’s creator can address the audience with a short introduction. Audiences then discuss the work after each screening. We encourage audiences and filmmakers to keep their discussion respectful.

How can I rent projection for an event?

Through our Open Screen: Editions program, we provide projection equipment and service for screening events. We bring the screen, the projector and the expertise. You bring the content.

If you are hosting an Open Screen event, our service is free. For all other events, we charge $100/day + $25/hr. for a full screening package that includes our screen, projector, and projectionist. (Financial support is available.)
